Pinch-hitter Jason Giambi connected for a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the New York Yankees a 9-8 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Brought on to protect an 8-6 lead, Blue Jays closer B.J. Ryan (1-2) got two quick outs in the ninth. But Alex Rodriguez singled, moved to second on defensive indifference and scored on Hideki Matsui’s single.
